What is the best time to move?
The best time to move generally is the summer. Summer is the busiest season for movers though. Most people choose to relocate in the summer because of the favorable weather conditions. According to AMSA, some 32 million Americans relocate in the summer alone. Thus, imagine that the moving companies get extremely busy and if you don’t schedule your move in advance you may find yourself moving on your own. Therefore, consider moving in off peak season. Off peak season is usually the winter and late fall months. Or if you have to move in the summer try to schedule your move for the middle of the month when it’s not that busy and moving rates are lower.
How long in advance should I contact Father & Son Moving & Storage?
This is one of the most frequently asked moving questions. Often you don’t know when exactly you will move and thus you can’t schedule your move in advance. It is best though if you can start contacting movers at least a month in advance. The earlier the better because then you will have the time to schedule your move for the desired day.
How much will my move cost?

How and when do I pay the movers?
Question for movers about how and when to pay are some of the most important for many of us. Moving is not cheap service and thus you have to be aware of the moving charges. The moving company you end up hiring will give you all the details on how you can pay and if they require deposit. Most reliable moving companies accept most credit cards, money orders or bank checks and some even work with PayPal. Usually there is an initial charge (moving deposit) when you book your move and then when your goods are delivered, before movers start unloading you have to pay the rest. Stay away from companies that require foot big deposits in advance. The initial booking deposit usually should not increase 15% from the estimated amount.
What information should the moving company provide?

Is there a moving deposit to reserve the time slot?
A good question to ask a mover is if there is a moving deposit. Many moving companies today require that you pay a deposit in order to book your move. A deposit is rather a typical policy for most moving companies. When the amount is reasonable (between $200 and $500, but depends of the size of your move), you can be sure that there is nothing wrong with movers asking for deposit.
Is there a minimum number of hours for local hourly moving services?
There is always a minimum number of hours for the moving service. It does though usually apply for local moves. the minimum number of hours is usually between 3 and 4 hours. Thus, even if your move takes less than two hours you are still required to pay the minimum of three hours etc. If it is above the minimum though, and for example, your move takes 5 hours and 45 min the amount is prorated and you pay for every 30 minutes increment.
Do you provide moving discounts?
